Conference Hosts

Wesleyan created the College of the Environment in 2009 with a belief in the resilience of the human spirit and a desire to develop a long-term vision of human and ecosystem health. We believe that the high productivity and interdisciplinary nature of Wesleyan's faculty; the intellectual, questioning, activist nature of its students; and the intimate relationship of the faculty-student teaching experience create opportunities for Wesleyan to make significant contributions to re-orienting our nation's and the world's trajectory.

The Price Carbon Campaign is a project of the Climate Crisis Coalition and the Carbon Tax Center. A price on carbon would be the quickest and most effective way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, create incentives for renewable energy and efficiency, and generate green jobs. Fees could be returned to citizens as payroll tax relief or as dividends to promote economic equity.

Conference Organizers

The Climate Crisis Coalition was founded in 2004 to create awareness and a sense of urgency about the climate crisis and to broaden the constituency of the climate action movement. CCC's mission is also to approach climate change from the holistic perspective that links issues of environmental, social and economic equity.

The Carbon Tax Center (CTC) was launched in January 2007 to give voice to Americans who believe that taxing emissions of carbon dioxide — the primary greenhouse gas — is imperative to reduce global warming.

Progressive Democrats of America was founded in 2004 to transform the Democratic Party and our country. We seek to build a party and government controlled by citizens, not corporate elites—with policies that serve the broad public interest, not just private interests.

Citizens Climate Lobby’s purpose is to help empower individuals to have breakthroughs in exercising their personal and political power and by gaining the tools to be effective with their Government and to create the political will for a sustainable climate.

Future 500 focuses on carefully-planned engagement strategies, with a preference for personal one-on-one or small group engagements with truly strategic stakeholders, to build the genuine trust that leads to understanding, mutual support, collaboration, and breakthrough solutions

We see a stable climate as an essential ingredient to a world that is not only biologically diverse, but also able to supply enough quantities of food and water for the entire human race, keeping conflict, poverty, disease, malnutrition, and displacement at bay. Our mission is to ensure just and stable future for ourselves and future generations through bold and meaningful campaign efforts.
